Janzen and Elizabeth Franklin purchased TimingMD in February of 2025. Janzen began working for Mike Dason and TimingMD in the spring of 2017. Janzen has been around track and field, and cross country for most of his life. Janzen began going to practice and meets as a toddler with his father, Jeff Franklin. Janzen ran cross country and track at Linton- Stockton from sixth grade to graduation. Janzen then furthered his running career at Vincennes University. After leaving Vincennes, Janzen decided to accept a job at the Linton Police Department. Janzen attended and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Janzen also attended and completed the Indiana Fire Academy. Janzen volunteers at Jasonville Fire Department as a fully certified firefighter. Elizabeth’s high school running career was at Shakamak High School. Elizabeth ran cross country and track at Shakamak from fifth grade to graduation. She then joined Janzen at Vincennes University to further her running career. Elizabeth graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in biology. She then went to Ivy Tech Community College for respiratory therapy. Elizabeth is now a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Anderson’s Medical Products.
Janzen and Elizabeth decided to purchase TimingMD to give back to the sport that they both love. They hope that this will be a gateway for their three children to find interest in running.

Mike Dason, Founder
Mike Dason founded TimingMD in 2014 to fill a need for quality timing of road races and track and cross country meets throughout the Wabash Valley. His interest in timing coincides with his 22-year coaching career at Terre Haute North High School where his teams garnered numerous sectional, regional and semi-state championships as well as an individual state champion in cross country.
The evolution of his timing began with the use of popsicle sticks and gradually evolved to the use of a Sprint 8 and “tear aways” and finally to the electronic timing system in use today. What started initially in the Wabash Valley has expanded to provide timing services from Chicago to the panhandle of Florida and from Missouri to Ohio.
TimingMD has provided timing services at every level of competition including the IHSAA state cross country meet as well as the IHSAA state track and field meet in Indiana. TimingMD has also provided timing services for the MVC, HCAC, UAA and many High School and Middle School conferences. Dason has served as the co-director of the Nike Midwest Regional Meet and was instrumental in the development of the Nike Twilight Meet.
